I don’t know about you, but I need structure in my life to stay sane. One of the biggest challenges I think many are facing right now, other than financial pressure, is the loss of structure. We are so used to our routine of going to work or school. As much as we may fight against these things, routines and structures offer support in our lives. We need to do everything we can to support ourselves right now. The first couple of weeks or quarantine just felt like we were waiting to go back to our normal routine. Now, it’s clear a new routine is in order. Even if this only lasts a few more weeks. Structure can help you feel more in control of your life again. Go back to the basics. Set a bedtime and wake up time – even if your appointments and responsibilities are fluctuating or you can’t leave the house. Having a steady sleep schedule helps create a sense of normalcy in our lives. Continue waking up and going to bed at a decent time. Set mealtimes. This can help with overeating. I keep hearing people say they are eating more out of boredom. Setting a mealtime can help you stay out of the kitchen in between. Make a list of your goals. If you’re still working, you may still be working from a set of goals each day. If you’re not working, schedule time to work on other things that you’d like to accomplish. Are there projects you’ve wanted to focus on but never had the time? Now’s the perfect time! Make a list of your projects and goals you’d like to accomplish during this time. Map out your day. Break your projects into daily/weekly goals. Make a list of goals you want to accomplish during this time. Make a list of what you want to accomplish each day or week. My daily routine planner can help you organize your time and your day. Create routines for the kids. I’m working from home and my 12-year-old daughter is attending home school. We both have our designated work time. Plus, she has time to connect with friends and watch her favorite shows while I am working. At 4pm, screens are turned off and we go for a walk or work on a project together, next is dinner & clean up then we spend more family time, watch something together and then start our bedtime routine. Build in time for positivity. If you are experiencing more worry than usual right now, plug into positive messages and/or meditations on Youtube. Search for whatever you are struggling with, for example, how to cope with fear, how to trust everything will be okay, how to have more self-discipline, sleep meditations, etc. While you’re there, Check out and subscribe to my channel. I know this is a tricky time but building some structure back into your day may help you feel more in control, get more accomplished and keep you focused on something you can control which is your time and where you put your focus. What are the biggest challenges for you and your business right now? I’m working on some new content and would love to focus my topics on things that can benefit you during this time. |
