Speaking of the heart<3 Heart disease runs in my family so this is a topic near to my heart. In my opinion heart disease is really a love disease.
What I've observed over the years about the heart dis-ease in my family were the obvious things, smoking & eating habits. But, what I also noticed was the inability or resistance to give and receive love. There was a lot of hardening of the heart in my family. I don't think my family is alone on this. When you carry around years of unresolved pain, shit starts getting heavy. How can the heart keep up?! We have all suffered some sort of pain in our lives that has caused us to want to shut down our hearts. Some of these decisions were made as children, some not, some conscious, some not. When my dad died four years ago, I vowed to myself that I would open my heart and to learn to give and receive love. I have always taken care of my heart physically (well for a long time anyway) but I had definitely hardened it years ago and it hasn't been easy dropping the habit. And that’s what it is, a habit! The good thing about habits is that they can be changed. We have a choice! My dad always told me– “it’s your choice, Miss Boice!” Damn I hated hearing it then but now I remind myself of it each day. Wise man. We all want to keep ourselves safe. But what we don't realize is that hardening of the heart causes us to shut out and actually push away what it is we are so desperately wanting – LOVE! Have you ever tried to get close to someone who has a hardened heart? It's literally impossible. The path of healing the heart takes courage and trust! Courage to love again. Courage to let others close again. Courage to drop the story and make a new choice. Trust that you can handle whatever happens. Trust that your life is unfolding perfectly – the perceived good and bad. The heart is quite literally a muscle. Muscles need to be exercised. Giving – Receiving, Loving – Hurting, Expanding – Contracting – Expanding some more. Stretch those heart muscles! You CAN handle it! It’s just energy passing through. Part of my practice now is this --> when I feel my heart closing around a certain situation, I consciously open it instead. I feel a tightening in my chest and I breathe and make a choice to expand it instead. It’s never as bad as we think. Especially, when we open and allow whatever it is to pass through. It’s energy passing through. The hardening, darkness and heaviness come from closing and holding on. When we close our hearts around a situation, we cut off flow. When we allow ourselves to remain open, emotions can pass on through. They don’t have to become a heaviness that we carry around for years to come. Start paying attention to your heart and what it’s trying to show you. Your heart is your greatest teacher. Drop down the heavy walls and let it expand. You are safe. You are love. You are free. PS. Ready to break through, drop the bull shit and get on with living/loving? Message me, let’s talk! So I have wanted to come out in this way for a LONG TIME!!! I'm going to start sharing with you from my heart! Here goes. I have always had a deeper understanding. I've always been different. I've always kept a large part of me to myself b/c others didn't seem to understand. So I hid. I was trained to be nice - if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say it. But it goes way deeper than that. Socially, I was taught that other people are right, you are wrong. We have to alter ourselves to fit in. I guess as an adult, this hasn't affected me as much b/c I've just found a few people that I like and stay to myself.
But when my daughter came along, it all came up again. She is in first grade this year. She is intense too, you see. She screams when she can't get it right. She will sit at the monkey bars screaming and crying because she wants to do the kewl flip the other girls are doing so bad but she's scared or can't get it right. I TOTALLY understand her. I was this same girl. I would cry every week at dance lesson b/c I couldn't get it perfect. I would go home and practice and practice until I got it down. I was sooooo intense and so is she. The thing is, I understand her intensity. I've actually had people tell me that I need to shut her up, she should not be allowed to act that way. They don't understand why she is doing it. So it has been my job to stand there at her side encouraging her. What I see is that my job is to teach her how to deal with these intense frustrating feelings. And sometimes it's not pretty! But I don't shun her in public like my parents did to me. They just wanted to silence me and my intensity. Of course they didn't know how to deal with it either. I can see that others don't understand us or what we are doing. Parents and children look at us, they ask what is wrong with her? I just say that she is frustrated and trying to get the hang of something. Period. I explain to the other kids what she is going through and then they begin to understand her and her intensity and more importantly why she is so upset. The more they understand, the more they try to encourage her too. I have a strong willed child. VERY strong willed. I was that same child so I know! Sometimes I think I am too understanding with her. I def work every day to find that balance. I just want to teach her that she is okay. Intensity and all. That I am there and I love her no matter what! Her momma will be there supporting and guiding her. I want her to love and accept herself, her intensity and sensitivity. As an adult strong willed child, I see that the intensity she is experiencing is her absolute strength as an adult. People constantly ask me how I have the energy to do all that I do. How I have the drive to recreate my life over and over again. And I know that this intensity is my fire! It's my fuel that burns and the more I learn how to work with it and wield it, the more I am able to create my highest potential in the world. My job as a parent to this strong willed child and my job to myself is to encourage, love, accept and nurture that intensity and also learn/teach how to shape it into something amazing!!! I’ve been working with some of my Energize clients this week with food planning and preparation. The topic came up of not wanting to take care of ourselves in this way, not wanting to spend the time to cook for ourselves, and sometimes not even wanting to take the time to eat at all. This is especially true for people who live alone and don’t want to cook for themselves as if they don’t matter. Also for moms who make sure everyone else is fed but isn’t nurturing herself.
So many of us were not taught to care for ourselves in this way. Hell, we weren’t taught to care for ourselves in any way. How many people were taught to care for themselves outside of grooming? Not very many. Eating healthy food is one of the most important ways we can learn to nurture ourselves. Instead of thinking about cooking as a chore, make it into a self-care ritual. Turn on some music and enjoy the process of cooking and taking care of yourself. If you have a family, get them involved in cooking. Teach your children the joy of cooking and caring for themselves. This is one of the reasons I LOVE coaching people around food. Food is a great physical representation of how you can care for yourself that reverberates out from there. When you start taking care of yourself and feeding yourself healthy food at regular intervals, you are sending a signal to the Universe and to yourself that you care – you matter – and you are worthy! SLOW things down. You matter! You are worth the time it takes to prepare nurturing food. And when you start eating healthy food at regular intervals, your energy will begin to soar! This week, take some time to prepare yourself some great healthy meals. If you live alone, light some candles and make yourself a candle lit dinner. Put some love into your food and into your heart. You are a special gift! Start treating yourself as such. You can pick some recipes from my free Real Food ebook. Download your FREE Real Food Cookbook here. Lots of Love! Jenny PS. Heal Your Gut: 5 Steps to Reduce Inflammation, Boost Your Immunity, Lose Weight and Feel Energized4/29/2015 Here are my 5 simple tips that will help you improve your gut health.
1. Improve Your Diet. One of the biggest tips that I teach my clients is how to improve their diet. Focus on eating REAL food. Real food doesn’t have labels. Go back to the basics. Eat more fruits, vegetables, grass-fed meat, pastured poultry, nuts and seeds. Avoid packaged food. Limit grains. So many people experience food sensitivity but are unaware of it. Food sensitivity causes swelling, bloating and often compounds into more serious conditions. If you need help pinpointing this or learning to eat healthier, sign up for my ENERGIZE Wellness Program beginning on May 6. You will start looking and feeling great! 2. Probiotics. Once you clean up your diet and clear out foods that are wreaking havoc on your system, start taking a good probiotic. Probiotics help reestablish gut flora. I really like the brand Bio-Kult. You can also start eating Cultured Vegetables which are fermented vegetables. Cultured vegetables are similar to yogurt in that they contain live cultures, without the dairy. You can buy these at your local health food store. 3. Exercise. Start moving! Regular exercise keeps your bowels moving. It also keeps your lymphatic system moving. Your lymphatic system is like your garbage removal system. It removes waste from your body. Your circulatory system has your heart to pump it. Your lymphatic system requires movement to pump it. So keep moving! You don’t have to go to a gym to exercise. Walk out your front door! 4. Chewing. I know it sounds simple but chewing is the #1 fastest and easiest way to improve your digestion, improve your gut flora and even increase your energy. Your stomach doesn’t have teeth so when you partially chew your food, your stomach creates more acid to help break down chunks of food. This slows your digestive process, increases acidity in your body (can cause acid reflux), and requires more energy. That’s why you are ready to go lay down after eating. Chewing is a big deal! I’ve seen people get off of medication by the simple act of chewing. Try it and feel the difference! Chew each bite 30-40 times. I don’t count. Just chew your food until it’s mushy. You will eat less too! Win-Win! 5. BREATHE. Stress wreaks havoc on our bodies. It particularly affects our digestive system. Stress has different reactions in people. Some people get diarrhea when they are overly stressed, others tend to hold on and become constipated. Whether this is happening to you or not, it is important to slow down and BREATHE! I talk to many clients who tell me that they get so busy during the day that they notice they are not breathing. Be aware of your breath as you go about your day. Take some deep breaths with the intention of breathing some space into you day! Slow things down. Create more ease:-) What’s your biggest issue when it comes to feeling healthier? My Energize Program can help you start feeling better fast! People are often asking me if I can recommend any herbs to help them stop smoking. So, I decided to share with you how I stopped smoking 20 years ago.
First of all, there is no easy way out when it comes to quitting smoking. You have to make the decision and follow through. Period. You have to be ready and willing to make the change. Quitting smoking is 95% mental and emotional. Fortunately, there are some mindset techniques to help you along. This is what I did. I treated my relationship to nicotine just as I would any other relationship that I was ending. I "broke up" with nicotine. I decided it was no longer healthy for me, I ended the relationship, I drew a line in the sand and said "no more!" Any time I wanted to call (smoke), I reminded myself that I was finished with that relationship, it was no longer healthy for me and in time, it would all get easier. In the beginning, I was reminding myself every hour or more. But when you're done, you're done. When it's time to move on then that's what you have to do. Period. Similar to ending a relationship, you need new things to fill your time. I began walking, going to the gym, hiking, playing sports - all of the things that I didn't have the lung capacity for as a smoker. Every time I wanted to smoke, I walked out the door for a brisk walk instead. When I was walking, I drew in long, deep breaths of CLEAN air telling myself that I was purifying my lungs. I avoided certain situations and even friends for a while. I had to avoid certain social situations that were connected to smoking for me until I grew stronger. I avoided alcohol for 6 months to a year. When I did have a drink again, I started out with just one. The more drinks you have, the less will power you have, so I took things very slow until I could break the association I had between alcohol and smoking. Over time, you start creating new associations and habits. With every passing day, it gets easier and easier. One day you walk past someone smoking and think it STINKS! Eventually, you wonder why in the world you ever smoked in the first place. You CAN DO THIS!!! When you are ready, take the stand, break up with nicotine and never look back! That's what it takes. You have to make the decision and keep sticking with your decision every day. Even one cigarette (just like one call to an ex) can send you back into the downward spiral. Stay strong. It gets easier and easier with time. I created a very similar video if you want to check it out on my Youtube Channel. Are you ready to start Creating Wellness in your life? Take some deep breaths with the intention of breathing some space into you day! Slow things down. Create more ease:-) As we step into the New Year, I encourage everyone to take at least 15-20 minutes to write out some visions for the new year. Even if you have an idea in your mind about what you want to create, it's important to WRITE IT DOWN! You activate the creation process by writing things down. Writing out your ideas bring them from the non-physical into the physical.
It doesn't have to take a long time and you don't have to commit to a bunch of resolutions. Just follow these quick & easy steps and see what happens! First: Sit down and visualize what you want your life to look like this year. What do you want to create more than anything in the coming year? Visualize yourself doing this, being this or having this. Most importantly, FEEL what it FEELS like to experience your life in this new way. Spend a few minutes and really drink it in. Second: Write out your vision. Describe your new you vision in great detail. Third: Come up with just one step that you can take right now to send a signal to yourself and to the Universe that you mean business! What is one thing you can do to signal that you are serious and ready to create this in your life? When we focus on one step at a time, we can really start gaining momentum in our lives. When we try to tackle too many things at once, we become overwhelmed and eventually back in the same rut that we started in. Choose just one thing to be your focal point this year. When you complete this one thing, you are encouraged and confident and ready to take on another. Starting with one is key along with WRITING IT DOWN! I created a very similar video if you want to check it out on my Youtube Channel. I wanted to connect with you during the holiday season. And what came to me to share with you is straight from my current life lesson.
As many of you know, my daughter just started 1st grade this year, I became a single mom and it came time for me to start taking my business to the next level. I thought that if I got more focused, committed and did the things I felt led to do that things would fall right into place. And I do still believe this with all of my heart. However, it's not happening in my time! It's happening in Divine Timing. Seems I had some lessons to learn first. I have never allowed myself to live this close to the edge financially before. But something within me keeps telling me to trust so I keep listening, applying myself in the way I am called to and keep walking. I've gone from feeling terrified to complete trust and all of the emotions in between. I've learned some incredible things from living in this space and I plan to share more soon. So as we move closer to the holiday season, I saw that I had two choices. I could either get upset and stressed out about my current situation OR I could start looking for all of the ways that I AM loved and supported and how I could stoke my inner flame! I chose the latter! And OMG I am so amazed with what I've found! I started waking up each day writing down the ways in which I AM supported in my life. I started looking at all of the things I DO have! I started looking at all of the people in my life who DO love me! When I really started counting my blessings, I realized that I AM THE WEALTHIEST WOMAN ALIVE! My daughter and I were walking to a sing along in our neighborhood the other night, playing instruments and singing down the street. It doesn't get much better than this! Because of this experience, I have so much joy in my heart and in my life right now. I am so grateful for the simplest things. I honor myself and my process. I have never been more committed to anything in my life before. I am living the life I want to live. I am opening myself to more and have learned to trust myself and my Divine Connection through this process. I am making all of my presents this year. I am even making gifts for myself and wrapping them too:-) I'm not sure that I've ever wrapped presents for myself like this before. I am learning my own value! I'm so excited to receive the little things. It's so awesome how we can turn something we first see as negative into the most beautiful experience ever just by deciding to do so! By creating the reality we want in our hearts and minds. We are so blessed to have this kind of freedom in our lives! I now understand the true meaning of JOY that is not dependent on the external world and I wanted to share this JOY with you! May you have a JOYFUL holiday season regardless of what your current situation is! We have so very much to be thankful for when we shift our focus to see it. Check out my fun classes! Let's create more joy in the new year! We start out each day with a certain amount of energy and depending on the decisions we make throughout the day, our energy level either goes up or it goes down. Oftentimes we are not even aware we are making these decisions. We are going around leaking our precious energy all over the place without even realizing it. Let’s take a look.
If you answered yes to any of these questions then you are leaking your precious energy. For one week, bring more awareness to your energy level. Start paying attention to what gives you more energy and what drains your energy. Go through your house. Start by looking for the little things that are zapping your energy first. Make a list. Transferring your to do list from your mind to a physical list frees up energy. Next, carve out some time to get these things done. Start recouping your energy! It’s like adding money to your energy bank! |
